wait till Rick needs a first responder.

- Bic

Well Pappy, you were right, It is campaign season and i had to check in. When reading this post I was a little disturbed by the irresponsible and ignorant remark made by Rick Driver. I am disgusted by him as much as the rest of you are, however, as much as I hate to say this, Rick Driver is a person with value. He has a family and a group of friends and neighbors that care about him. You are right, I am not one of them however I do want to point out again that his life and his impact on our community is a positive one. (yes, I'm choking on that one too).

I say all that to remind everyone that having an adversary is exciting until tragedy strikes at the least expected moment. That is why what our first responders do is to be admired and supported.

When I called 911 in the wee hours of the morning of our fire, no one even asked my name. They did not ask if I supported the volunteer fire fighters, they didn't ask if I was on the right side of the political fence. No, they just got out of their beds, left their families at home, and risked their lives to save my family from harm.

As much fun as it is to hate Rick Driver, detest Stan Welch, and abhor Cindy Wilson I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that all of our first responders, volunteer firefighters and police departments would be on the scene instantly to offer a helping hand. Our community would gather around them until they were stable again.

We live in the most loving and giving community in this great state. I am sorry that Rick felt that he needed to say what he said but please remember he is a radio personality. The rest of us live in reality and we know that no matter who we are our first responders are going to be there to help.

What they do is a calling, what their families give up deserves praise and when they come to our doors asking for donations we all no mater what side of the political fence we are on will keep giving, including Rick Driver, Cindy Wilson, and Stan Welch.

The more important thing to focus on in this election is when they come to our aid that they have the equipment they need to save our lives and the lives of our loved ones. It is for this reason that you need to vote for Doug Hooper in Anderson County District 7 and for Bill McAbee in District 4 and Raymond Mackay in District 1. All have a proven track record of support of our EMS, firefighters, and police departments.

After all don't you want to have a well educated and well equipped first responder at your door when life's unexpected tragedies visit your home? Vote June 10th for McAbee District 4, Hooper District 7, and MacKay district 1.

Hey,

Is Sarah Drawdy paying you to put out her signs with Bill's or is Bill telling you to do it?

I saw you this weekend putting out Drawdy signs with McAbees. Does this mean they are helping each other?

Sorry about the appointment going away. OOOOPPPS!

I am just asking??????

Good heavens! Where is the love for the man with more firefighting experience than anyone in this election?

Where is the love for District 5's very own Tommy Dunn?

Michael Thompson was a huge supporter of the 800 Mhz. Michael Thompson also supported the burn ban while Dunn helped squash it. Michael Thompson also worked to be sure that the fire departments in his district had the supplies and equipment they needed.

If Tommy Dunn was as concerned with the health and safety of Anderson County Citizens in District 5 he would have also supported the burn ban.

ReElect Michael Thompson to Anderson County District 5.

It's my understanding that Sarah Drawdy is not endorsing any candidate other than herself and to my knowledge all County Council candidates are remaining neutral. Sarah has wide support from true conservatives like me and others on this blog as well as some moderates and liberals. The main issues she's running on like helping law enforcement clean up the crime/drug problem in Anderson County and not giving probation to child molesters really transcend political ideologies.

I think Larry Greer and Bill McAbee are supporting her. Look at the signs, they are always in pairs. And I did see Bill's campaign manager putting out Drawdy signs.

I could care less who wins the solicitors race. I just think it is interesting that McAbee is so confident in his race that he is helping Drawdy.

Vote for Michael Thompson? In your dreams. A man who rubber stamps everything JRP puts in front of him, a man who is rude in the meetings to those who don't agree with him, a man who is attempting to stifle public sentiment, a man who is a major contributor to the unprofessionalism of the council - - never in a million years would I vote for him. When you add in his support for a $149M budget that is a 125% increase since 2000, it tells me that he needs more than MBA after his name. I don't know Tommy Dunn but you best believe I am looking at him as well as the others running against Mr. Thompson.

I disagree. Michael Thompson studies every issue and votes his conscience.

He is not afraid to vote the way he was voted into office to do. He has worked tirelessly on the water issue with the city and state delegation. I shudder to think how much that fight will be set back if he is not elected.

Vote Michael Thompson Anderson County District 4.

Michael Thompson would vote today to double our taxes if Joey Ray Preston told him to do it. If you think WaterBoy thinks for himself you are totally uninformed on county government. The Rubber-Stamp Five must be defeated if we expect any progress in Anderson County in the next 2 years.

This shows how really out of touch you are.

You don't know of the years of firefighting, as a firefighter, company chief, and fire commissioner, etc by Tommy Dunn. Michael Thompson has no experience in the area.

And in a display of your lack of knowledge in your double post you want people to vote for Mr. Thompson in District 4.

He is running in District 5.
That is a race he will surely lose!

One might reasonably question Mr. Hooper's training and qualifications considering his personal driving record, including an accident in 2004 which left a woman in a coma for more than three months. Members of that woman's family are visibly and vocally disturbed by the presence of Hooper's signs on the streets near their house, where the woman continues to live a diminished life of disability and pain. And this is a man who is running under the banner of first responder.

Friedgreenmater I have missed you so very much. So please tell me Stanton W. Welch what exactly was it for which you had your driver's license suspended here in Anderson ???

And while we are talking about crimes of the past, what exactly happened in charleston?

People have accidents. This does remind of the tactic used against Mike Gambrell two years ago. It did not work then. It won't work now. Most people don't worry about such things. Further, the facts alleged were indeed not the facts in Gambrell's case. CW might win, but you'll never get a new day in county government with this approach. It plays into the Preston strategy. See, they are bitter, petty, nasty, you can ignore what legitimate questions they ask because this is who they really are.

Anderson County government is growing more than it should, and has for nearly a decade. But, the Preston opposition does not know what to talk about, when to talk it, how to talk about, and how to control their anger.

Thus, the opposition loses the big picture every two years.

What, you can't be a good council member if you haven't been a fireman ? Get real. Vote Michael - he stood up to the lying WAIM/CAVE/Rick Driver crowd. He is too smart for them and they can't stand it.

Republikin

My post was in response to the above post. In matters of firefighting experience and knowledge Tommy Dunn exceeds by far any knowledge Michael Thompson may have. So someone touting Michael Thompson's position over Tommy Dunn's knowledge and experience is not looking at everything.

Michael Thompson's positions are based on which way the wind blows or on what he feels will help him the most. In his first election he sucked up to and supported the Charles Crow, Rick Driver group to get elected. His second election he sucked up to the JP crowd to get elected. He goes where ever he thinks the grass is greener.

The people in District 5 are fed up with his council antics. He will not win on June 10th.
