Still more musings . . .

It's becoming apparent that I will have to rent out the, in the words of Rickey Dribble, that "Overpriced Civic Center" to hold my Remedial Civics Class. I've had several e-mails and phone calls today informing me of the fact that 'ole Rickey Dribble permitted once again (great surprise, right ) the dissemination of lies.

Folks, there is NO WAY to spin or mislead people into believing that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a FOUNDING FATHER of the UNITED STATES.

Are people really this stupid?

Here, look at the pretty pictures here. You'll see that FDR is no where among the text or pictures.

Oh well . . . more to come . . .

Thanks for the 4th grade civics lesson.

Wow! Pappy is an elitist after all. No wonder he and Stupid get along so well.

Aw, c'mon dune, would an elitist make comments in the same blog as you ?

- PAPPY

If he was lucky.

I expected SSHM to comment on "Brother" Bailey running for District 5 seat.

I think he said all he wants to do for Anderson is get jobs, jobs, jobs. No explanation as to how he intends to accomplish this.

When I shook his hand and asked his opinion on dual water rates, all I got was a blank stare. He appently had no idea about an issue that involves thousands of his possible constituents.

As for his attire. . .'nuff said.

- PAPPY

"Brother" Bailey is an interesting character, for certain.

While his appearance and apparent aloofness may project someone who is not well put together, you could not be more wrong about him in that assessment.

His heart is in the right place, folks. While he may not have all of the answers, he certainly is a good person, untainted by the political process.

Would I vote for him - no.

Is he a good person - yes.

Should he be involved in politics - yes.

Is he the best candidate for District 5 - no.

If there is anything anyone can learn from "Brother" Bailey, its this: Don't judge a book by its cover. You may miss out on one heck of a read.

Stupid, sit down and take a deep breath. I met Brother Bailey for the first time last night and have to agree. In a five minute conversation with him, I recognized much of what you are saying. HJe uis a very interesting fellow, and I look forward to the chance to get to know him better.
I know, it shocks hell out of me too.

Hey Stupid, the Republican party thought enough of Bob Waldrep to make him a delegate to the national convention this year. Who didn't they send? Ooops! That would be Billie Mac! Oh well, I'm sure he'll find comfort somewhere.

- dunebuggy

Sorry Dune, that would be Mrs. Billie Mac. She ran and didn't even make an alternate position. Not saying much for the President of the Federation of Republican Women is it?

Why did the Republicans deny her? Hmmmmm.......

- willieh

I stand corrected, Willie. It was indeed Ms. Mcabee. Whether that was any less a repudiation of her hubby, I can't say for sure. But it looks like a snub to me, and I don't think it had that much to do with her.

Pappy I think you have misjudged Brother Bailey. I also think that comment about his clothes was beneath you. If you dismiss him outright you miss a chance to acquaint him with your water problems. I know Brother Bailey through business interactions. I know him to be an honorable Christian man. He would surely see and appreciate your dilemma and do what he could to help you. We could do a lot worse for a Council person.

I may not vote for him. My mind is not yet made up. But he is not excluded based on the clothes he wears. I think he was probably the most sincere person on that platform. I also believe in time with knowledge he could be a wonderful Council person.

- non sequitur

On second thought, that was an uncalled for remark and I will withhold judgement on Mr. Bailey until I know more about him.

- PAPPY

I'm glad to hear thatPappy. After all, he did admit he was unfamiliar with the issue and would look into it. How many incumbents have you ever heard admit that?

Pappy I can share that statement with you. I have made some real bonehead statements in my time too.

I respect your decision to reconsider your words and say so on here. You are still one of the "good guys"!

Oh you guys are wrong it was about her. I was at one of those Rw meetings and was disgusted by the cattiness of the republican women. I was always under the impression that repubs voted with their brains, but not the Anderson repub womens group. Just because Ms McAbee disagrees with Cindy W. and most of those women seem to think you must agree with CW they wouldn't support her for anything, just because she has the cajonnes to stand up for what is right. So guess again it is totally because of her disagreement with CW.

Alas, Noeline is right. I was at the meeting to which she refers. Several women there (I won't call them ladies under the circumstances) made very unkind remarks and non-supportive statements. It did not give a positive impression of the group.

This is a shame - SUsan Aiken and Jane Jones have spent several years trying to build the group up and have done a good job. But the negativism and cattiness of some who attend is discouraging.

I have been a member of a Republican family for 55 years now... and believe Reagan's view on speaking no ill of another Republican. I just wish some of the newer folks in the party would learn from that philosophy, too.

SSHM, glad you are keeping up on old Board of Education minutes. As you know certain matters have to be discussed in executive sessions. As vice-chairman I never called an executive session nor did I ever have the authority to do so as long as the chairman was presiding.

The musings continue (what can I say - Monday was a banner night for material) . . .

While I await a response from Mr. Allen about the history of our country, the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers, AND the need for excessive executive sessions while on the Board of Education (just what are you doing behind closed doors with monies for my kids, Mr. Allen?), we'll move onto an important political lesson:

How NOT to Alienate Voters

1.) It is not advisable to tout the fact that you don't have a realtors license and that you associate a realtors license with "problems" or "troubles."

Why? Licensed Realtors represent a LARGE voting bloc here in Anderson County. They vote at the polls and with their checkbooks. Good job!!

2.) It is not advisable to visit a local fire station and potty-mouth, er, disagree openly about the current Sherriff, especially when the fire station is in the Sherriff's home district, by which he carried said precinct by nearly 90% during the last election.

Why? It pays to do your political homework and LEARN the crowd for which you are addressing.

3.) It is not advisable to visit a local fire station and potty-mouth, er, disagree openly about how fire services are run in Anderson County AND imply that you can do a significantly better j-o-b.

Why? One should understand the history and success of this organization first and foremost. After that, we'll see what exactly should be changed, if anything.

Sharpen your pencils kids. This is going to get interesting . . .

Do you lie all of the time, Mr. Allen? Or do you simply suffer from Selective Recall Disorder. You know, the condition in which an individual SELECTIVLY remember the past only when it is beneficial.

Allow me to help you, sir.

Board of Education - Meeting Minutes - February 20, 2006

Folks, if you will turn to page two (2), you will see the following:

Executive Session: Upon motion by Mr. Allen and second by Rev. Mitchell, the Board entered into
executive session.

Return to Open Session: The Board returned to open session on motion by Ms. Bradberry and second by Mr. Allen..

It would appear, sir, that you did INDEED put the Board of Education into Executive Session on February 20, 2006.

Now, the only way that you are not lying, sir, is if you resigned as Vice-Chairman. Since I don't see that in the meeting notes, and other meeting notes from 2006 reflect that you were indeed the Vice-Chairman for all of 2006, it is READLIY APPARENT that YOU CAN'T HANDLE, er, TELL THE TRUTH, COLONEL.

Now the reference to A Few Good Men . . . that was a pot shot - but a well deserved one.

So, about all this secrecy that you just lied about . . . ?

Just some observations from last nights debate for everyone to consider. In no particular order or reference to incumbent or challenger or the inquisitors:

Oh, and how can we forget about Rip van Waldrep.

Mr. “I supported the Palmetto 800 system, yet never voted for it” Waldrep. That’s a very Clintonesque thing to say Mr. Waldrep. I would equate that to “I didn’t inhale” or “It depends on what your definition of IS is.”

- SSHM

Perhaps Bob Waldrep has forgotten that he switched political parties and thinks he's still a Democrat.

Would you mean switch hitter by any chance? It always helps me to quickly figure out who's really getting under the skin of the powers that be by seeing who you folks have been assigned to slam the most. Cheaper than those polls that Ron Wilson keeps paying for trying to find some way to beat Cindy and make Doug hooper look like he's NOT caught in the headlights.
BTW, did it strike anyone else as odd that Sturat Mackay has less trouble gettinhg information from Gina Humphries than anincumbent councilman? Can you say spoon fed?

Stanley,

Type slowly with BOTH hands please. At least that way you have a fighting chance of actually communicating your message.

It's Raymond McKay, not stuart.

He's Joey Preston and Bill McAbees boy. He won't win, but he will give Bob a run for his money. Bill McAbee is disgraceful, but he will win, and probably by a rather large margin.

McAbee has more signs out, then any politician I have ever seen. That shows he knows what he is doing. He probably has 5 to every one of poor ole Tom Allen.

No, I meant swing.

No one has trouble getting information from Gina Humphries, including the incumbent councilman. It's merely a case of MacKay telling the truth and Waldrep changing it to fit his agenda. Typical of the Stan Welch, Cindy Wilson, Nutdriver, WAI'm out of material tinfoil hat brigaide
