Sorry I wasn’t clear... Your right, Skipper was not over evidence in 2004. I believe that was McCard. But if you will check into it you will find that Skipper was over records. In December of 2004, before Crenshaw took office, the computer with incident reports from 1995-2000 mysteriously went down without backup. Unfortunately, incident reports from this computer were completely and forever lost. I don’t know, but was told by several of Skipper's friends, that the administration was told repeatedly they needed to back the system up. Either way you slice the pie Skippers unit was responsible for losing the five years of reports. It could have been a complete accident, which I am guessing was what they finally decided. But, THE TRUTH remains that it occurred, even after numerous warnings that could have avoided it. I am not going to debate this with you I know it to be fact.

You are right about the evidence and I regret to have given the impression Skipper was over it at that time. I think he states he was only over evidence from 89-98.

- THETRUTH

SO my point still stands...THEY WERE NOT DESTROYED! They were lost…
Crenshaw is MISLEADING and LIYING to the public when he portrays this as a malicious act PERIOD!
A Photo of a destroyed computer in his mailer is a TOTAL misrepresentation of the TRUTH and nothing more.
And if the evidence was in such a mess…Why did Crenshaw promote the very man that worked in evidence to be over evidence? That just doesn’t fly either.

Whattheheck?, why will you not be honest? The last election you didn't support Skipper. Be honest and tell everyone why you were not hired by Sheriff Crenshaw. Signs, signs, everywhere signs.....

- uscgang

I am starting to think you don’t like me very much

Whattheheck?, you have not hit a nerve of any size. I just enjoy giving back and pointing out what you and others don't/won't discuss in your blogging duties.

However, I'm not "rusty" at word games and I "singled" you out because of your personal axe to grind with Crenshaw. The truth be told, you're mad because he could not promise to do "more with nothing" and that must weigh a "ton".

So, with that, continue your career blogging for Skippy, and it's nice to see you didn't choose a democrat this time. Good luck. Signs, signs, everywhere signs.

You know we can get on here and talk about expired drivers license, SUV's, and Catergate till the cows come home but I wonder if anyone else watched Fox News tonight and saw the work that our Sheriff's Dept. is doing. Drive-by shooter...in jail, break in at Wren High School...caught in the act and in jail, break in at a school in Star....caught leaving the scene and in jail. We can sit around all day and talk about things that don't amount to a hill of beans when it comes to our safety but I want results...damn the rest of it. I'll take performance any day over a bunch of crap that don't matter in the end. I want low lifes that are out to hurt me or take my things in JAIL. Thank you Sheriff for what I feel is a helluva job.

- bonafidexpert

I have noticed. I just wonder why the pace of crime has exploded in the last days before the primary?

- dunebuggy

Oh please do not tell me that you are trying to tie a perceived increase in crime to the primary? Come on now, that's just silly. That would be like me saying, "hmmm, the temperature has increased to near record highs just before the primary." Nice try.

Chill. It's okay. We don't need to start shouting. I understand that you are, shall we say, passionate about the race, but you really start losing points when you do that. Ease up a little bit.

It is that attitude that has turned me against Skipper. Shame on you. Surely to goodness you are old enough to express your opinions without being so vulgar and vindictive. Remember, what goes around comes around. Wish ill on others and it comes back tenfold. Keep to the issues. You are doing more harm than good with this crap.

Maybe all the criminals ARE on the payroll after all?

And surely global warming is to blame for voter apathy, poor election turnout and worsening political resolution to social ills.
Danggit I just KNEW Al Gore was on to something!

Erin, if your decididng who to vote for by the way folks are treated here then I guess your in a pickle. I have seen no attacks like the one's from "skinfold" and other Crenshaw supporters. I hope you, and others, are making decisions on the issues. Not on personal attacks. I have seen some go both ways. However to pretend it's only coming from the Skipper side is pretty biased. Either way, I have not seen Skipper, nor Crenshaw, attack anyone here.

For some who were worried about my ID, seem to be trying hard to hide their own. What's up with that?

Erin, they won’t chill. Passionate is not the right word… I’d say obsessed would be the one to use. Have you ever wondered why most of the people in the Skipper Camp on this blog are so obsessed? I can give you my view – they have an axe to grind. They really could care less about crime rates, response times, uniforms, vehicles, statistics, etc. They don’t like the sheriff and have made it personal. Here are a couple of reasons for the dislike:

Some are former sheriff office employees who couldn’t cut the mustard. They didn’t have what it took to climb out of the prior administration’s abyss of apathy and lethargy. Real, progressive police work wasn’t in their system. When told to work (the right way), the non-conformists abandoned their posts and went on to other pastures. Most went to smaller departments and others went to the private sector. The ones who went to smaller agencies are pushing Skipper in hopes of getting a job in his administration. Apparently, they over-estimated their self-worth or they’d still be deputies. Their current department heads should pay close attention because it’s obvious they have no intention of staying there. You know they’ll jump ship again.

Other bloggers are carrying chips on their shoulders because they feel they have been passed up for a promotion or a particular job they wanted. To hell with the fact that they couldn’t handle the position in question, they wanted it. They believe, Erin, that because they want it, they deserve it. That’s not the way Crenshaw works. He’s proven that more than once with people that he placed in key positions. They couldn’t do the job and he replaced them - friends or not.

Lastly, there are bloggers who write for a family member who fits in one of the other categories. I’ll not comment on those because of the old saying about “the blind leading the blind.”

These bloggers, the ones with a personal vendetta, have in their writings betrayed their friends (or persons who falsely thought they were friends), insulted those trying to do their job and falsely accused others. And they did it with flair. That wasn’t meant to be a compliment, guys and gals.

You see Ms. Tree, passion and obsession have something in common – expressing intense feelings. The difference between the two is that obsession… is to an unreasonable degree. Unreasonable people take things to an unreasonable degree. And you can’t talk to an unreasonable person. So, the probability of them “easing up” is slim to none.

And I'll agree with Former Cop. Skinflap, flop, whatever got personal. But he didn't get as personal as the ones that are pushing Skipper.

I'm just glad it's almost over.

We do agree there, I'll be glad when it's over. Wonder if some will ever be willing to take back the things said and done.

Don't worry Buddy, I was there for you before you forgot everyone, I'll be there for you when you have to come back to earth. (althought it looks like I might be the only one.)

I think there are some who support both candidates who fit these descriptions. It seems like there are alot of personal attacks in this particular election. I just hope when it comes time to vote, people take the "real issues" into consideration and not alot of hear say written on a blog.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I do not feel I'm "in a pickle." However, I will tell you why I feel the way I do. Yes, there has been mud-slinging. I have seen statistics stretched, molded and turned to whichever way the poster needs to prove their point (which is the beauty of statistics).

I have seen things get personal and ugly. I disagreed with the attack on you, but others, and yourself included, mounted an adequate defense. It must have hit home because that person never posted again.

With that in mind, I have looked through all the blogs. I have not seen where a name was called out and their job threatened as I have seen recently. It is that behavior that angers me. Additionally, it is the glee that someone may lose their job and others will be "put into power." Gag. It is that behavior, right, wrong or indifferent that I equate with Skipper. He not only lost my vote because of that behavior, but has lost the ability to even get me to listen. You are right, Skipper nor Crenshaw has said anything on these blogs. Crenshaw has been bashed by the actions of those he placed his trust in by giving them a job. Skipper has lost votes because of the poor, adolescent behavior of the school yard bulllies on these blogs.

I'm voting Crenshaw tomorrow. The SO has done well. He has shown true leadership. By the way, true leadership is not a guarantee of rainbows and daffodils. True leadership is handling issues as they arise in a professional and consistent manner. Crenshaw is human. Has the SO been pure under his watch? Heck no, but that's because it is staffed with humans. Free will is awesome, but unpredictable, thing. Crenshaw may have had egg on his face during his time, but he has wiped it off publicly, adjusted his course and moved forward, thus demonstrating his leadership ability.

Bash away at my posts all you want. It's okay since that is what this forum represents - differing opinions and the opportunity to voice them. I think the thing that got lost a while back on both sides is that respecting opinions does not equate to agreeing with them. However, and this is directed at everyone, don't insult another person's intelligence or be a bully. It will come back to bite you every time no matter how "anonymous" the profile. Take the high road. I assure you the view is better.

I have no ax to grind with Crenshaw but will be voting for Skipper tomorrow. I see that Crenshaw is a liar and a poor manager and I don't think those are qualities that we need as a sheriff. He has been lying to employees and the public since he took office. Just as those of you are entitled to support him, I have just as much right to not support him. I don't base my decisions on rumors but things that I have seen. I think Skipper is an honest man with superior qualifications to do the job. Regardless of who you support, go vote and voice your opinion there. It's important.

No, dear. That's what is known as tongue in cheek. The crime rate is pretty constant. But when election draws near, arrest rates go up, crack houses get raided more often and the streetwalkers stay off the streets if they're smart. It's not rocket science - it's politics.
