Question about national news

If by "known associates" you mean William Ayers who did some bad stuff when Obama was a child , here is a comment from Chicago mayor Richard Daley:

There are a lot of reasons that Americans are angry about Washington politics. And one more example is the way Senator Obama’s opponents are playing guilt-by-association, tarring him because he happens to know Bill Ayers.

I also know Bill Ayers. He worked with me in shaping our now nationally-renowned school reform program. He is a nationally-recognized distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois/Chicago and a valued member of the Chicago community.

I don’t condone what he did 40 years ago but I remember that period well. It was a difficult time, but those days are long over. I believe we have too many challenges in Chicago and our country to keep re-fighting 40 year old battles.

Look, the 60s were a messed up time. Obama isn't responsible for what some crazy hippie terrorists did when he was a kid.

I wasn't just talking about Ayers, but more importantly how Obama reacted under the watchful eye of the camera during the debate. He folded like a wet noodle, if he cannot handle the pressure of the news media what the hell is he gonna do under real pressure. This man has turned out to be a whole lot less and more than I thought.

I was also asking about the Pope's visit but then I realized no one here cares.

I don't watch TV debates anymore because they're a waste of time. I did get a chance to watch part of this one because we had it one while doing some work down here.

It just validated my opinion that a 90 minute TV debate with commercials isn't the right medium for political debate in this day and age. We need to move to a medium that allows for thoughtful debate that takes the TV ratings game out of the picture. Some sort of combination of timed youtube/blogging/chat that allows for people to phone/email/text their questions in and allows for the moderators to really sort through the questions and ask what most people want to hear, instead of a question about flag pins that 50 out of 100,000 people submitted.

If the networks weren't making a ton of money selling ads they wouldn't be playing the game of dumbing down our political discourse. Where money is involved, the media will fight to control everything in order to maximize their profits.

I agree a 90 minute debate with a gagillion commercials is not good. Unfortunately it is the only way for a large number of Americans can learn about the candidates. But those questions that were asked of Obama were legit questions, why is he associating with those people. It's well known I don't like Hillary or McCain but now Obama has proven that no matter how good an orator he is he has no backbone and cannot handle the tuff stuff. He is all fluff why didn't he just come out and explain I mean some guy who preaches about the bad rich white people is now moving into the rich whte neighborhood. The oter guy as late as 2001 said he was not sorry for anything he ad done (bombing public building) and wished he had done more. Now this jerk is a professor at a supposedly good college. People want to know this stuff and if we have to sit thru 25 minutes o commercials we have to do it. I didn't hear anyone screaming it was unfair when Hillary was bombarded with tuff questions about everything she had ever said or done. but ask Obama tuff questions and ABC is picking on him unfairly, wrong. by the way

Hate to disagree, Noline, but I happen to think he handled Ms. 'I put my child in sniper fire' Clinton real well.

First he gave her the finger ( check out u-tube ), then he brushed her personal attacks off his shoulders and proceeded to talk about THE ISSUES.

Sorry to disagree with you Pappy, how do you explain his non answers to any of the questions put to him regarding not just the people he associates with but also about SS, Taxes where he majorly controdicted himself, the economy, and just about everything else that was asked of him the man has proven he is an empty suit. I think I would rather see Hillary in the WH.

It simply has not happened becasue people are too afraid of the lefts tactics of labeling people as a "racist" or "bigot" if they were to disagree with their golden child Obama. Personally I think he's a useless spineless and clueless left wing socialist piece of crap who associates with known terrorist and anti American racists and is one of the least fit people I could think of to let become president, but hey if your stupid enough not to look past and to fall for his hollow "hope and change" message you deserve what you get.....

A power "at all cost" socialist bltch who survived "landing under sniper fire", and tried to steal the silverware from the White House the last go round. Hell she couldn't even satisfy her own husband, do you think she can run a country? Not to forget a God knows what "Juan McCain" that wants to give the US away to illegals and pander to Mexico at tax payers expense. They all make me want to vomit...Maybe we'll all get lucky and all 3 of their jets will collide over the gulf of Mexico and spare this country any more bullshit and agony....

For the record, the only reason "Juan McCain's" stance on illegals has changed is because it's an election year, that goes for Flimsy "I spend my time in Ted Kennedy's lap" Graham as well.......
