is it possible for a judge to file a false report and keep his job? is that the way the legal system works?

The way that the legal system works, for judges as well as the rest of us, is that potential charges are investigated, then brought. Then, you go to trial, either in front of a judge or a jury of your peers. Only then could you potentially be convicted and thus lose your job. It's that "innocent until proven guilty" thing. My knowledge of this case is limited to the news report, but it seems that it is still in its investigative phase. So, we'll all have to wait and see if this judge is or is not found guilty.

Judges are one of the main problems with our states broken legal system. We should be electing our judges like most of the modern world rather than the state judiciary being the retirement home for the state house and senate. We need accountability in legal system as well as the rest of government.

Maybe Judge Mike Smith needs to talk to Gudge Gilmer on how to stay out of jail. Smith must have missed that class

actually, the bigger question behind these judges is who appointed them?...and why?

If you look into the judges in Anderson County and follow the "trail".... there is a real story that is not being told...

course...thats not the kind of story that the AIM would EVER run..

its much more fun to run several front page stories about catergate..or minor wrecks that the administrators vehicle just happened to be involved in...

yup..hard hitting news source we have here in Anderson County..

I take issue with you remarks. The judge you are remarking about has devoted a large part of his life to public service. His wife and son both serve the community.

All the facts have not come out about the incident, and until they do, I will speak well of the family that has served this town for so long. They don't deserve the crap that has been said. That family are good people.

I personally know the police officer you mention and he is professional and a devoted family man. He does not deserve to be drug into your or anyone else's political crap.
