Look him up at http://www.ortizforsenate.org. He's apparently running against Billy O'Dell.

Hmmm . . . very interesting. It's worth a look, honestly.

To answer that question, sort of. I have met Ortiz and talked with him several times and can still not answer that question. Yes, his bio is questionable.
There is another candidate for Billy O'dell's seat. His name is Roger Odachowski. He is a retired Anderson City fireman. He is very young but is retired due to injury in a fire and unable to return to his former position.
I find it commendable that he wants to be "the public's voice" in Columbia. I believe that anyone in that voting district should take a look at him.

I'm always for voting someone in who has actually really worked for a living and that doesn't belong on a feeding tube in a retirement home.

Mr. Ortiz has been at several functions held recently ( including the blogger lunch last Saturday at GC).
While I have not had the chance to disect his resume and background ( as seems to be required nowadays) he does have some varied education and work history.
Mr. Ortiz also seems to be interested in a wide variety of subject matter, from curfew laws, use of prisoners for social endeavors, to animal legislation and different tax obligations.
I would suggest you converse with him about subjects which concern you. I believe he is planning a meeting downtown soon ( think it conflicts with County Council meeting, not sure) or he also reads the blog pages, just ASK!
